Schofields Bistro (“Schofields”) is a new full-service, licenced restaurant located in a renovated historic building in downtown Port Dover, Ontario offering Accessible taste.
Ambiance abounds here – fresh flowers, exposed brick walls and restored original hardwood floors, art deco lighting, ceilings and attentive, unobtrusive service in the European tradition.
Schofields provides a stylish yet casual atmosphere with a full-menu of high quality, moderately priced, traditional Bistro favorites. With fresh local produce from Norfolk County and gourmet ingredients and a complement of premium prepared foods are served in generous portions.
Menu items include Steak, Lamb, Pan-Seared Salmon, Shrimp and Scallops and Pasta dishes. Panini’s, Quiche and homemade soups are offered during lunch hours. Breakfast items include scrumptious Eggs Benny and Belgium Waffles. We also offer a Children’s Menu of selected items.
Open Tuesday to Sunday, our hours of operation are for Lunch (11am to 4pm) and Dinner (4pm to 8pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday; 4pm to 9pm Thursday to Saturday. Sunday breakfasts are from 9am to Noon.

History of Schofields
Founders Michael Haywood and David Newton selected a location where the past and present could create a welcoming atmosphere. Michael's extensive culinary experience includes Hemmings Broken Plate in Port Dover. The Schofields name is an acknowledgement of this past.
The Schofield Brother’s erected the building in the 1850s and operated a grocery store until the 1920s. Located on Main Street and across from Powell Park the building has been the heart of commerce and village life, with a colourful history and host to a variety of different businesses.
At Schofields you will find a series of historic photos of Port Dover purchased from the Knechtel family collection and display on our walls. The photos, taken in the 1920s and 1940s, have been restored and colour-enhanced, bringing the past into our present. We feature local artist work on our walls and plan host regular musical artists from the community.
We continue to plan partnerships and new offerings in future. We have partnered with the Lighthouse Theatre to offer special menus and hours to meet the dinning needs of theatre patrons. Starting for the 2012 Season, Friday and Saturdays we will be open from 9pm to 11:30pm offering appetizers and desserts along with our premium beer and wine selections. Lighthouse Theatre Season Ticket holders are eligible for a 10% discount on their bill when they bring their ticket stub.
