History of Schofields
Opening in 2011, founders Michael Haywood and David Newton selected a location where the past and present could create a welcoming culinary and cultural space.
Our experienced team includes Michael's extensive culinary experience includes Hemmings Broken Plate in Port Dover. Chef Russell Black joined in 2015, having spent the last 10 yearsChef Russell’s 10 years’ experience is in casual/fine
dining, á la carte restaurants, where he held progressive back of house
culinary positions. Russell trained at the Stratford Chef School, and continued
his training under some highly skilled and accomplished Chefs; receiving his
Red Seal Apprenticeship in 2011. Russell
has held senior and Chef roles and varied French, Italian and Canadian cuisine at
leading Rundles of Stratford and Muskoka restaurants as: Taboo Resort Golf and Spa, JW Marriot Rosseau, and the exclusive
The Schofields name is an acknowledgement of this past. The Schofield Brother’s erected the neighbouring building in the 1850s and operated a grocery store until the 1920s. Located on Main Street and across from Powell Park the building has been the heart of commerce and village life, with a colourful history and host to a variety of different businesses.
Open Tuesday to Sunday, our hours of operation: Lunch (11am to 4pm) and Dinner (4pm to 8pm Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday; 4pm to 9pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Our Special Sunday Menus: Brunch Menu (10am to 3pm) and Prime Rib Dinner Special while supplies last.
